- Ars Technica reports that Comcast has filed suit against FCC about the commission’s sanctioning last year of the ISP for their throttling select peer-to-peer users. The FCC said Comcast was hiding their act of delaying and disrupting heavy bandwidth users and doing so because their use hurt their cable business.
- Reuters reports that Comcast is hoarding cash to tidy up its balance sheet, but some investors are eying the company’s hopes to do something splashy, like its aborted 2004 bid to buy Disney. All Things Digital and Slashdot both picked up on this.
- PaidContent reports that, wary of the potential to affect Chicago’s bid to host the 2016 Olympic Games, the U.S. Olympic Committee has pulled back on launching a TV Network with Comcast, the possibility of which we previously reported. The L.A. Times suggests Comcast was foolish to have gotten involved with the battle between the IOC,the USOC and NBC. …So many ‘c’s.
- Broadband DSL Reports says that the second quarter was the slowest in eight years for broadband growth, blaming a slow housing market, a saturated user base and traditional sluggish Q2 projections anyway.
