On the Market: As WhyHotel expands in the US, it’s hiring a lot in the DMV

D.C.-based alternative lodging service WhyHotel has been making major power moves this year from its expansion to San Francisco with a new office and leadership team, to its pop-up hotel expansion to Houston. All of this comes after the company closed a Series A funding round in December. Launched in 2018, WhyHotel has pop-ups in Baltimore, D.C. and Virginia. In January, we coined the company as a startup to watch on our Technical.ly DC 2019 realLIST, coming in at #2.

In the midst of all of its success, WhyHotel is hiring for multiple positions throughout the DMV, so here’s some openings in each area:

Washington, D.C.

Amazon now has 25 open positions listed for its Arlington County HQ. The tech giant began hiring last month, and is currently looking to fill positions in software development, HR, sales and more. Here’s a few positions listed:

• Amazon Business SMB Sales Manager – Government & Nonprofit Sales
• Principal Product Manager, Technical, Alexa Experience
• Technical Program Manager

If you’re worried about working in the busy NoVa area, Amazon reported that the new HQ is directly accessible to public transportation with bike-friendly access as well.

Tysons-based Cvent, a veteran company that makes software to manage meetings and events, as well as web surveys and email marketing, is another company showing continuous growth in the #dctech space with the acquisition of Social Tables in October 2018, to making a commitment to hire 1, 000 employees in 2019 for the second year in a row. The company also announced in March that its Tysons headquarters is expanding with 72,000 sq. ft. of office space.

This office expansion will come with a lot of hiring, since the the company currently has more than 100 job openings listed between D.C. and Tysons, where it says a majority of the new employees will be hired. Cvent is looking to fill roles in data science, sales, software engineering, and more.
