SnipSnap, Cloudmine raise rounds // Philly’s “Most Innovative Entrepreneurs” [Startup Roundup]

Two Venturef0rth-based startups raise funding, the tech scene sweeps a list of Philly's "most innovative entrepreneurs" and applications for Open Angel Forum are now up.

WHO’S GETTING FUNDED?

If you want to get funded, apply to pitch at the upcoming Open Angel Forum by April 14. The event, organized by DuckDuckGo CEO Gabriel Weinberg and local angel investor Antonio Tedesco, will be on May 8 at First Round Capital and it’s free for entrepreneurs who are chosen to pitch. Apply here.

Cloudmine, the Callowhill mobile app backend, raised $505,000, according to an SEC filing.

UniRisX raised $661,577, according to an SEC filing. The insurance software company has offices all over the world but its North America headquarters is near the Philadelphia Airport.

SnipSnap raised $600,000 according to an SEC filing. That brings the company’s total seed round to $1.5 million, CEO Ted Mann said. Participating investors included “mostly existing investors,” said Mann, but also some new, local faces like Richard Vague and Kevin Kleinschmidt, both of Center City’s Gabriel Investments. The Callowhill couponing app recently launched an Android version, we reported last week.

WizeHive raised a $1 million seed round with participation from local investors, we reported yesterday. The Conshohocken startup from DreamIt Ventures cofounder Michael Levinson provides a platform for businesses to create apps.

Philly Tech News has more details on the recent $1.5 million round for Vistar Media. The digital advertising startup founded by Invite Media alumni has four software engineers working out of its Philly office and five employees working out of its customer-oriented New York City office.

WHO’S GETTING BUZZ?

PeopleLinx won “Best in Show” at last week’s Phorum conference. The Center City LinkedIn for businesses startup also announced a $3.2 million round last week, as we  reported.

First Round Capital‘s Josh Kopelman makes it onto PandoDaily’s parody list of the 40 Hottest Men in Tech. “We hear he likes it Gangnam Style,” PandoDaily reported. As for us, no comment.

A whole slew of Philly tech scene leaders made it onto Philly.com’s “Most Innovative Entrepreneurs” list, including Curalate CEO Apu GuptaFirst Round Capital‘s Josh KopelmanRelay‘s Matt Gillin and DreamIt Ventures‘ and Kindertown‘s Steven Welch.

InstaMed has processed $60 billion in healthcare payments, we reported earlier this week. The Center City company that aims to streamline healthcare reimbursements now employs 100.
