Remember the LOVE statue at SXSW 2016? Amplify Philly is aiming for a bigger Philly presence at this year's Austin mega-event.

During South by Southwest (SXSW) 2016, the Philly tech scene got exposure on a national platform thanks to an effort called Amplify Philly, which brought startups, nonprofits and entrepreneurs to the event.
This year, the effort is ramping up again, as it gets ready to take Philly back to Austin in March 2017. The effort has already rallied sponsorship from three local players.
Comcast, Guru and Ben Franklin Technology Partners are the first three companies to confirm they’ll be backing the effort to bolster Philly’s presence at SXSW.
Danielle Cohn, Comcast’s Director of Entrepreneurial Engagement, said the Philly-based company was proud to once again back Amplify Philly. “We hope other local organizations see the value, and join the coalition of startup organizations and supporters to amplify Philadelphia’s tech, innovation and startup stories at this important national event,” said Cohn.
Amplify Philly is aiming for a broader Philly presence this year. Philly Startup Leaders Program Director Yuval Yarden said the fundraising goal has tripled from 2016. Plans include a showcase of some 15 Philly startups, a weeklong “Philly-oasis” at the heart of the conference, and a VIP wrap-up party. The effort is being co-led by Yarden and Dave Silver of REC Philly.
“For now, Philadelphia is ahead of the game, but SXSW 2017 will be here in a few short months. To anyone who wants to get involved, attend or sponsor the initiative, the doors are wide open,” Yarden said.
Oh, and while we’re on the subject of SXSW, here are four tips from Hugh Forrester, head of SXSW Interactive, on what makes up a solid panel application.
