Here’s who will represent DC at Philly Tech Week 2023

Folks from all over the DMV will be joining us at the 13th annual Philly Tech Week events. Here's where to find them.

What’s in a name?

I get what you’re thinking: How does Philly Tech Week 2023 presented by Comcast impact me, a resident of a city two states away? But, dear reader, don’t change that dial. Our annual weeklong conference, taking place virtually and in person from May 4 to May 13, is actually speckled with a few familiar DMV faces.

The 13th annual conference currently has over 40 events for technologists and entrepreneurs alike, including the “Nerd Met Gala” and our Builder’s Conference on May 11, featuring a whole host of DC panelists and moderators.

The five folks from the DMV who will join us in Philly next month

The definition of local has changed forever. How does that play into investing? Panelists including Zeal Capital’s Nasir Qadree will discuss during the panel “The New Rules of the Innovation Economy: Team Building & Ecosystem Growing in a Post-Pandemic World.”

Executive Director of the Global Innovation Forum (and former Technical.ly intern) Hua Wang will speak on the “Every Voice, Every Vote: Tech, Policy and Activism” panel. In this conversation, leaders will discuss how tech can shape our country’s future, both internationally and across the US.

Anil Karmel, the cofounder and CEO of compliance tech company (and 2023 RealLIST Startup) Regscale, will join us for a talk on the future of work. “Remote Work, Employee Engagement and Avoiding Burnout Hell” will cover changes in work expectations since the pandemic and how to navigate employee retention.

Maryland Momentum Fund Managing Director Mike Ravenscroft will speak at the panel “How are Tech Economies Growing Now: RealLIST Connectors.” Ravenscroft and other ecosystem builders will chat about the changing worlds of services, institutions and infrastructure, and how to keep up (Okay, technically he’s a Baltimore guy, but works with founders all over Maryland, so definitely still someone to keep on your meet list).

TEDCO’s Tammi Thomas is a selected speaker on the “THRIVING: What the Innovation Economy Means for Everybody Else,” discussing our yearlong reporting project on the full reach of the tech and innovation economy.
