Meet TEDCO

TEDCO, the Maryland Technology Development Corporation, enhances economic empowerment growth through the fostering of an inclusive entrepreneurial innovation ecosystem. We identify, invest in, and help grow technology and life science-based companies in Maryland.

TEDCO plays a vital role as Maryland’s leading source of funding for early-stage, technology-based businesses. It fosters technology transfer and commercialization through multiple funds and programs, including the Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund (MSCRF), Maryland Innovation Initiative (MII) and the Federal Technology Transfer Initiative (FTTI). MSCRF accelerates human stem cell-based research and cures through grants to public and private entities in the State. MII accelerates to market promising technologies with significant commercial potential from Maryland academic research institutions. FTTI works with federal labs to provide access to technology, data sets, facilities, equipment and more to support Maryland entrepreneurs.

TEDCO houses many pre-seed, seed and growth stage funds. The Pre-Seed Social Impact Funds which include the Builder Fund and Inclusion Fund, are designed to engage and invest in economically underserved founders and communities. The Pre-Seed Rural Business Innovation Initiative Fund supports the growth of technology-based companies in the rural areas of Maryland. The Seed and Venture Funds invest in early-stage companies to grow the next generation of outstanding businesses in Maryland.

TEDCO also supports entrepreneurs through the availability of valuable resources, including Network Advisors, Start-up Orientation Forum, Rural Business Innovation Initiative, Urban Business Innovation Initiative, Market Search Databases, Prelude Pitch, Online Educational Tools, a Marketing Toolkit, Roundtables and the Maryland Entrepreneur Hub.
