who’s getting funded?

AllStar Deals, based in Rockville, has raised $500,000 in equity, according to SEC filings. The online commerce company “brings together brands, agencies, celebrities, and their affiliated charities as a way to increase product sales,” according to its website.

who’s making moves?

Nineteen Maryland companies were named to the Inc. 500 list, as the Baltimore Business Journal reports. Among them is Locust Point-based Videology, the online advertising tech company founded by the cofounders of Advertising.com. View all 19 Maryland companies here.
Three undergraduates in Indianapolis recently launched an OrderUp digital franchise. Canton-based OrderUp, which creates an online platform to facilitate food ordering, makes money by taking a 5 percent cut of each order placed through an OrderUp digital franchise site.

Frank R. van Vliet, executive-in-residence at the Merrick School of Business at the University of Baltimore, has been named to the board of directors for the Baltimore office of the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, a nonprofit based in New York City that provides entrepreneurship programs to high school students in low-income neighborhoods across the world.
