Barcamp News Innovation is an un-conference dedicated to the future of informing communities.
A “Barcamp” is a type of an event that features sessions organized by attendees day-of. In 2009, a series of Barcamps for “News Innovation” were planned across the country, started in part by Jason Kristufek. Philadelphia was chosen for the national Barcamp News Innovation and became the only annual gathering. It was first held in April 2009 and organized by the founders of Technically Media with members of Temple University‘s journalism department.
