The iPhone app and text tool (1-215-987-5377) for the New Jersey version of the Sheltr.org mobile add-on is now live.
Adam Hinz, an Azavea software engineer, built the mobile version of the web resource for accessing Philadelphia social services at the BarCamp NewsInnovation News hackathon in April and won first place, as Technically Philly reported.
Sheltr.org was built at the Random Hacks of Kindness hackathon in December.
Sheltr.org plans to release mobile versions of the application in Philadelphia and Austin, as well, said Random Hacks team organizer Bula.
Hinz says the Philly application would need to be upgraded to the same API that New Jersey mobile application is built on in order to release a Philly text tool and iPhone app. This upgrade is in the works, Sheltr.org team members told Technically Philly.
