Last month, the Tandem Innovation Alliance announced that it was accepting applications for its free academy focused on supporting emerging tech businesses. After initially accepting 13 companies, Tandem added seven more startups to round out the inaugural fall 2018 cohort.
The first cohort for the Tandem Product Academy was initially supposed to included 25 founders to represent 25 startups but after leaders realized that multiple team members could benefit, 20 businesses were selected and multiple members from each organization will be participating.
“Because this is a pilot that we are doing to figure out how best to serve our region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, it was important that we have a cohort that was diverse,” Tandem Product Academy founder Jonathan Aberman told Technical.ly. “We also focused on people who were clearly interested in learning, rather than hoping to go through a program that would help them find capital. We are not an accelerator, but something different, an opportunity to develop important skills, so we selected people excited about that.”
Here are the seven recently-added startups (with descriptions supplied by the Tandem Innovation Alliance):
- Airgility, working at the intersection of aerodynamics, advanced manufacturing, electric propulsion, software and artificial intelligence, Airgility designs vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) autonomous unmanned aerial systems for the military, public and commercial service sectors.
- AtomiCorp, a Cloud Workload Protection Platform, powered with our proprietary machine learn cloud engine and backed by our open source HIDS software, OSSEC.
- C2Labs, a high value add information and strategic consulting organization that has developed a commercial product it is looking to grow.
- Equilibrium Networks, has in collaboration with a Fortune 50 company and based on research performed for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Agency, and the National Security Agency, EQ developed an interactive data visualization and feature engineering platform for network monitoring and cybersecurity applications that is designed to be scalable and offers high detection performance at low cost.
- HeMemics developed a hand-held, 15-second, point-of-care test for identifying offending bacteria.
- Ostendio, a B2B software company that makes a product to streamline the way companies build, manage and demonstrate their information security framework.
- Radus Software, a federal/public sector WOSB providing Enterprise Architecture, Strategic Planning, Management Consulting, Information Governance, Portfolio, Program and Project Management, IT implementation, BI and Performance Measurement and Acquisition/Category Management services to agencies such as the FAA, USAF, DOT, USDA, DOL and others.
