5 quick ways to make your local tech ecosystem better

1. Take the Technical.ly community survey.

What do you want to see and read from Technical.ly? How can we do a better job informing you about what’s happening in the tech economies of Baltimore, Philly, DC, Delaware and Pittsburgh, and in connecting you to other local technologists, entrepreneurs, company builders and the like? Have you interacted with the Technical.ly community more or less over the past year, and why?

Tell us in five minutes or less to shape this very tech news site.

As a bonus for sharing your thoughts, we’ll pick a few people to get a signed copy of Guy Raz’s book “How I Built This” or $50 gift cards once we close the survey in a few weeks. (Note that to be entered to win, we’ll need your email address — otherwise, the survey is anonymous.)

2. Join our Slack.

In-person meetups may still be only slowly coming back, but we’ve got the place to stop and chat with others.

This summer, Technically Media (that’s Technical.ly’s parent company) moved all of its internal communication over to our public Slack, and we want you to join. It’s a place for conversation on everything from #dev to #goodreads, and you can catch AMA interviews with interesting folks like DEI pro Dr. Kristin Austin and Baltimore founder Dan Lee. (Coming up on Thursday, Aug. 26, reporters Holly Quinn and Paige Gross will lead a discussion with women-in-tech meetup organizers from across the mid-Atlantic.) It’s also where you can find solid networking amongst tech and business pros from Philly, Baltimore, DC, Delaware, Pittsburgh — and beyond.

3. Drop us a line.

It’s a community, so your voice matters. Subscribe to one of our market’s newsletters and respond to one of our daily messages, pitch a story to our reporters, write a guest post, or just tell us what you’ve been thinking about lately. (Caveat: You can do some of these things via DM … on our Slack! See above.)

4. Post a job/find a job.

Looking for software engineers, product leads, customer experiences specialists, DevOps managers, marketing directors? On the flipside: Looking for work as a software engineer, product lead, customers experience specialist, DevOps manager, marketing director? (If so, phew, you are a true multihyphenate.)

Look here: Technical.ly’s jobs board is open for posting or perusing all day, every day. It’s the best place to reach thousands of relevant pros or positions with just a few clicks.

You can also get newly open tech roles delivered straight to your inbox each Tuesday by subscribing to Technical.ly’s This Week in Jobs newsletter.

5. Nominate an influential technologist for the 2021 RealLIST Engineers … soon.

That’s right: Our annual list honoring community members who show technical aptitude, community leadership and collaborative practices returns this fall. Look out for the nomination form next week. In the meantime, get thinking about the software pros in your network who deserve a shoutout, and check oit last year’s newsroom-curated lists in Philly, Baltimore, DC and Delaware for some inspiration. (Pittsburgh, we’re coming for you this year!)
