SAP, Comcast, Power Home Remodeling made Fortune’s best workplaces list (again)

Fortune magazine’s 2020 list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For in the country is out and three Philly-area companies were recognized.

Power Home Remodeling, the Chester-based home-remodeling company, jumped to #50, up 27 spots from last year. This is the company’s fourth year on Fortune’s list. In 2019, Power Home Remodeling was also named as a top workplace for parents and millennials.

After the company was named to last year’s list, CIO Timothy Wenhold said, “Team members are purpose driven and have the opportunity to work autonomously, but are also encouraged to work collaboratively with colleagues — including those in separate departments — so that they truly understand the pain points of the company and how to best solve them.”

SAP America, headquartered in Newtown Square, ranked #59 this year, from #28 in 2019. Fortune reported the software giant provides a project incubator that allows employees to develop their ideas into products for SAP customers.

Up seven spots from 2019, Comcast NBCUniversal landed at #64. The company provides leadership programs for employees to work their way into senior management. Fortune said NBCUniversal’s career-relaunch program assists those coming off an extended break from work.

Wawa competitor Sheetz came in at #80. The family-owned convenience store chain based in western PA has been named as a top company to for work for five years in a row.

“To be considered,” Fortune reports about its methodology, “companies submit an application documenting over 200 datapoints describing their HR programs and practices.” Read more here.
