This startup wants to crowdfund its way to a smart mirror

Founded by a team of Harvard and Wharton students, the company launched a Kickstarter campaign last week to start actually making the thing. Meet Perseus Mirrors.

As if we didn’t have enough screens around, there’s a Philly-based company called Perseus Mirrors, which — you guessed it — wants to create a smart mirror that can double as an info hub, a makeup assistant, a photobooth and plenty more.
The company, started by students from Harvard and the Wharton School, launched a Kickstarter campaign last week to wrangle up the first $100,000 to kick off manufacturing and assembly. In less than a week, they’re already at more than $41,000.

They’re also trying to build out a community of early users and developers. Over the coming months, Perseus will launch a developer’s kit for its platform.
Old City-based product design shop ArcWeb Technologies took part in user interface design.
“They were of invaluable help, since our product is a new medium and there isn’t much reference as to how it should look in order to optimize the user experience,” said Perseus cofounder Antina Lee.
Look out for the release of the product in April 2017.
