Ecosave, an Australian energy efficiency firm, is the newest member of the Navy Yard’s growing technology hub.
The company, which bought Bristol, Pa.-based energy efficiency firm DVL Automation in 2013, plans to open its U.S. office at the Navy Yard, according to a release.
It will create 125 jobs over the next three years, said Luke Butler, chief of staff to city’s deputy mayor for economic development. That’s a mix of jobs from the DVL Automation and new hires.
Ecosave spent two years determining where to open its North American office, CEO Marcelo Rouco said in a release.
Several partners worked to lure Ecosave to Philadelphia: the City of Philadelphia, the state of Pennsylvania, business attraction and retention organization Select Greater Philadelphia and the city’s economic development agency the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation.
The company’s 20,000 square foot office will be housed in a new 75,000 square foot building in the Navy Yard.
The City of Philadelphia has been working to position the Navy Yard as a building technology hub, with the Energy Efficient Buildings Hub, the federally-funded research initiative , and companies like The Mark Group located there.
“We want to be the premiere place in the country for any company who’s innovating in the building technology space,” EEB Hub deputy director Laurie Actman said last spring.
