‘ABCs’ of the web book needs $20K [Crowdfunding]

One Baltimore native wants to introduce pre-elementary school age children to the World Wide Web to equip kids with the coding vocabulary they need before they start interacting with programming languages and binary code.
Andrey Ostrovsky, a 29-year-old doctor completing his medical residency in Boston, is one of two minds behind the “ABCs of the Web” book. The two men are now raising $20,000 on Kickstarter to help fund printing and donations of copies of the book to Uplift D.C., a nonprofit that teaches a variety of STEM classes to students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

Ostrovsky, who has a 22-month-old son, said the book is meant to give children such as his own an “introduction to the lingo” of coding.
“Computational thinking alone, and its implication to math, science and education — he’s going to be tested on that all the time,” he said. “Having an understanding of what computer science is capable of is, I think, applicable to any career.”
