Developer Pam Selle teamed up with seven other volunteers from coworking space Indy Hall and Comcast to help kids at Laura W. Waring Elementary School learn about programming as part of an annual initiative called Hour of Code. It was Selle’s second year helping out at Waring, a public school near Fairmount and Broad, where a friend of hers teaches science.
Hour of Code, started by national education nonprofit Code.org, is part of Computer Science Education Week and aims to raise awareness around tech education. Check out our previous coverage of Computer Science Education Week in Philly and across the Northeast.
Local tech folks willing to pitch in can fill out a short form on the site. Philly schools looking for volunteers can then link up with them and set up workshops and classes on subjects like software development or the limitless possibilities of computer science.

Also: here’s a friendly reminder that local tech nonprofits Coded by Kids and TechGirlz also help deliver the word of tech to youngsters all over Philadelphia. Perhaps TechGirlz said it best on Twitter:
