The summer is in full swing. But just as things reach their apex, it means the end is fast approaching. Before it wraps up, there are plenty of chances for technologists to use that extra sun and energy to try out a meetup you’ve never experienced before.

For those who want to take a chance with a coding language you’ve never used in a context you haven’t used it before.
The Python for City Government Process Improvement, held August 8 at Fearless‘ offices in Spark Baltimore, was created by civic technologists seeking to bring the coding language Python into Baltimore city government.
The Monthly B’more on Rails Meetup, held virtually on August 10, features talks focused on the popular programming langauge Ruby and the application framework Ruby on Rails.
For those who have always had the hankering to be more business-minded, or want to nourish that entrepreneurial spirit…
- Def Tech Maryland‘s Taking Technologies to Market, held virtually on August 6, will feature a presentation on tech transfer agreements from Robert Charles, SBIR/STTR Project Manager at the Naval Research Warfare Center at Carderoc.
- Health Tech Entrepreneurs Meetup, held virtually on August 19, will feature Dr. Amir Manbachi, an assistant professor of engineering and neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins University. He will discuss experiences at the nexus of entrepreneurship, academic research and industry.
For those interested in civic solutions…
- Code for Baltimore‘s August community night, held virtually on August 11, brings together technologists, designers and creators interested in buildng for the common good.
For those Microsoft and PC-minded folks…
- BaltoMSDN, holidng its latest monthly meetup August 18 at Mindgrub‘s offices in Locust Point, is hosting a panel on Power Virtual Agents featuring IT industry veterans with skills in Microsoft web technologies, building applications for utility services and software development in the nonprofit space.
- Baltimore Techies for Good, which will hold its monthly session offering resources for nonprofits virtually on August 18, is featuring an overview of Microsoft Teams and OneDrive with Microsoft advocate Dan Wahlin.
For those who believe the future is already here…
- Data Works MD, held August 24 at Betamore in Port Covington, will host IT pro Stephen Penn to discuss estimating lottery revenue on a quantum computer.
