Philadelphia already has a strong and vibrant tech ecosystem — and is poised to become one of the nation’s leading industry hubs post-COVID. While the city is among the top for STEM diversity, there is still much work to be done to ensure this new growth is equitable, inclusive and sustainable.

To that end, the City of Philadelphia Mayor’s Office announced a $500,000 initiative titled PHL: Most Diverse Tech Hub in November 2020. Splitting the funding between four local organizations — Coded by Kids, Campus Philly, Venture for America and Technically Media, Technical.ly’s parent company — the initiative seeks to provide a myriad of community services, including support for underrepresented founders, connections between higher education students and local hiring companies, on-the-job training and internships for Black and brown Philadelphians transitioning to tech careers, and more.

Watch the video below featuring folks from the Department of Commerce, Agile Brain Consulting, Boomi, Linode and Springboard IT, and email vincent@technicallymedia.com to learn more and get involved. The video was produced in collaboration with Afresh Collective, a Philly-based Black and brown women-owned video production company.
