These are your 2020 Timmy Award winners in DC that will go on to compete nationally

Tech in Motion, a national network of technology events, announced the regional winners of its annual tech awards.

The organization did a call for nominations for the annual award ceremony, choosing top picks in five categories: Best Tech for Good, Best Tech Workplace for Diversity, Best Tech Work Culture, Best Tech Startup and Best Tech Manager. Tech in Motion held a public vote to determine the 2020 Regional Community Favorite awards.

Of the finalists, here are the winners from the sixth annual D.C. Timmy Awards:

• Best Tech for Good: Bethesda, Maryland-based Aledade, manager of a tech platform that helps healthcare providers join forces to reduce Medicare costs. The six-year-old company closed a $64 million Series C earlier this year.
• Best Tech Workplace for Diversity: Downtown D.C.-based Quorum, curator of a customer relationship management software that tracks what’s happening in government.
• Best Tech Work Culture: Tysons, Virginia-based 10Pearls, a digital development company helping businesses with product design, development and tech implementation.
• Best Tech Startup: Downtown D.C.-based Goodshuffle Pro, a company that operates an online marketplace for party rental supplies and builds tech for the event industry.
• Best Tech Manager: Lauren Neal, principal of strategic innovation at Booz Allen Hamilton

These winners will go on to compete against 10 other finalists in each category for the national Timmy Award honors on Oct. 29. The speaker and judging panel will include an array of tech industry experts including Adam Cheyer, cofounder of Siri and Change.org; Erica Van of Charles River Ventures; Bruce Wang, director of engineering at Netflix; and Nirmal Srinivasan, software engineering director at Paypal. The national Timmy Awards will be hosted online.

Goodshuffle Pro has a team of eight employees in D.C. Working in the events industry, the company was hit hard by the pandemic, Carmen Bodziak, marketing associate at Goodshuffle, told Technical.ly. Despite the shakeup, Goodshuffle is still finding innovative ways to help businesses.

“We’re seeing some event businesses think strategically about how to use this time, which includes adding efficiencies to their business operations as they’re having to scale back on labor,” she said. “Our business software and online ordering solutions help these companies make more money now, but also build the foundation to wisely scale as events make a comeback.”

This is the second year in a row that Goodshuffle has been honored as a Timmy Awards finalist.
