Arlington, Va.–based tech consulting firm ByteCubed has acquired a holographic football platform used by the Baltimore Ravens in training, Technical.ly Baltimore previously reported. This is the company’s third acquisition in two months. ByteCubed brought in design agency CHIEF in September and InterKn, a data analytics and machine learning platform for defense innovation, in October.
“As an experience driven technology company, acquiring Pre-Game Prep is another example of our passion to create what’s next for our clients,” ByteCubed CEO Lena Trudeau said in a statement. “When coupled with our recent acquisition of CHIEF for strategic communications and Interkn for data analytics and machine learning, we can now offer our clients even more comprehensive and cutting-edge solutions.”
The Ravens began using Pre-Game Prep last year through Microsoft’s HoloLens headset tech, allowing the players to train against opposing teams with holograms and data pulled from multiple sources. Last year, ByteCubed also used the Microsoft HoloLens tech to transform a book of maps used by multiple government agencies for large scale National Special Security Events into a dynamic holographic geospatial environment, Technical.ly DC previously reported.
In this latest acquisition, ByteCubed has hired Troy Jones Jr., VP of business development and operations at ByteCubed Labs. Jones was previously employed by Mixed River, overseeing the product’s development, implementation and sales, with a background in playing football.
