If you’re in a position to donate money to nonprofits during the COVID-19 pandemic but aren’t sure where to give, consider this: The Delaware nonprofit crowdfunding platform Delaware Gives (DEGives.org) is currently waiving fees on the next $50,000 in donations.

The platform, an initiative of the Wilmington nonprofit startup Spur Impact — probably best known as the org behind the Millennial Summit — is an online platforms that allows users to search local nonprofits by county, keyword and cause. In March, the platform was used for the Do More 24 Delaware, which raised $389,552 in 24 hours for over 300 nonprofits, including Family Promise of Northern New Castle County, The Ministry of Caring and Combined Campaign for Justice.

“We’re very excited to be able to offer 100% relief to Delaware nonprofits and their supporters during this pandemic,” said Charles Vincent, executive director of Spur Impact. “As Giving Tuesday Now is just around the corner [on May 5], we encourage nonprofits to utilize this platform and hope to incentivize individual giving across the sector and across the state in the coming weeks.”

For those who want to donate specifically to COVID-19 relief efforts, a joint fundraiser has been spearheaded by United Way of Delaware, Delaware Community Foundation, Philanthropy Delaware and Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement using the Delaware Gives platform to raise money jointly in support of their #COVIDHELPDE fundraising efforts.

Overall, there are 600 Delaware nonprofits on Delaware Gives in more than 40 categories, including everything from science and tech to health and culture.

The waive on processing fees started on April 27 and will continue until the $50,000 cap is met.
