The Federal Communications Commission received more than 1 million comments about net neutrality — the largest public response the FCC has ever gotten on a policy matter in such a short time.
Media Mobilizing Project, the West Philadelphia grassroots media and organizing group, was behind one of those comments. (MMP’s Hannah Jane Sassaman actually hand delivered the comment last Friday because the FCC website crashed for most of the day.)
“Our Network believes the Open Internet plays a pivotal role in ensuring racial and economic equity in the 21st century,” read the letter, sent by the Media Action Grassroots Network (MAG-Net), a national network that MMP is part of. MAG-Net also sent 75 haikus about net neutrality along with the letter.
Read the letterMMP is also part of Voices for Internet Freedom, a national coalition that advocates for communities of color. Read their letter here.
