If you’re running a startup and want to prototype your product at NextFab Studio, Benjamin Franklin Technology Partners wants to help.
The state-backed economic development agency launched a program that will award up to $5,000 for startups to use the extensive facilities at South Philadelphia makerspace NextFab Studio, according to a release. The idea is to help local startups get their product to market faster.
Startups have to match the amount of money that they get from BFTP and use it at NextFab, as well. The chosen companies wouldn’t necessarily become NextFab members, but they would use the grant to pay to use NextFab’s facilities.

Biomeme, the NextFab-based startup that’s developing a mobile app DNA diagnostic lab, is the first awardee of the grant.
