Technically, a 15-year-old multi-local news organization with a community of technologists and entrepreneurs, is seeking a Marketing Manager who is a data-driven connector and is passionate about impactful messaging strategy to advance the sustainability of our free, accessible and independent journalism. We do that most commonly with native advertising, newsletter marketing and events. Position summary
As the Marketing Manager, you will be primarily responsible for executing and managing marketing strategies that align with our mission and business objectives. You will work closely with the Revenue team to expand our client base and enhance brand awareness, and communicate regularly with our Editorial team to help share and promote our storytelling and coordinate media partnerships. You will report to Technical.ly’s Client Services Director and be part of a collaborative team informing and engaging our communities through our digital and in-person platforms.

Key responsibilities

  • Strategy development: Assist in the design and implementation of comprehensive marketing strategies that align with our mission and business objectives, with a focus on content marketing, particularly through our Builders series.
  • Marketing campaigns: Oversee the creation and execution of marketing campaigns across various channels, including social media, email, and events. Manage and optimize campaigns to maximize engagement, impact and ROI.
  • Social media management: Develop and implement a social media strategy, including running tests to determine the best cadence, platforms and methods. Orchestrate and manage paid campaigns and optimize social media accounts to leverage each platform effectively. Manage and promote our biweekly Builders Live show on LinkedIn.
  • Marketing automation & CRM: Take the lead on marketing automations, sequences and contact and list maintenance in HubSpot. Manage the creation and optimization of CTAs in collaboration with the Product team, testing and refining conversion strategies at various funnel points.
  • Partnership development: Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with local businesses, organizations and community groups to expand our reach and impact, particularly through IRL events and newsletter campaigns.
  • Event promotion: Lead the marketing efforts for Builders Live, Builders conferences and other related events, including smaller curated client events. Drive ticket sales and sponsorship promotion for these events.
  • Content creation: Collaborate on video marketing initiatives to promote both sales/services (via Builders Live and social spinoff clips) and the journalism/newsroom (via reporter interviews or story recaps).
  • Market analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to understand industry trends, competitive landscape, and audience needs, adjusting strategies as necessary.
  • Performance metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for marketing activities, ensuring targets are met or exceeded.
  • Financial oversight: Assist in managing the marketing budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources for maximum ROI.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in marketing, with experience in digital marketing and social media management.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing strategies.
  • Strong understanding of marketing automation tools, particularly HubSpot.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Creative thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Work-life balance: Expect to work roughly 40-45 hours a week, with flexibility based on results.
  • Paid time off: 30 paid days off a year, including 11 paid holidays, 15 PTO days accrued annually, additional PTO offered progressively, and a company-wide office closure for the final week of the year.
  • Parental leave: 8 weeks of paid parental leave, with options to extend to 12 weeks.
