To kick off Technical.ly’s Most Diverse Tech Hub workshop series, last month we examined the topic of “Creating a Culture of Belonging.” Participants walked away with practical tools that allowed them to evaluate their organization’s current practices and make an impact immediately.
To continue the series, we thought about the process of creating that culture, and the very first step to get there. Before a new employee enters an organization’s workplace, how do we ensure that their first experience represents the values of inclusivity and self-awareness?
Our upcoming workshop, “How to Create Culturally Inclusive Job Descriptions,” will look at just that. Our facilitator, Alyssa Vásquez, is a diversity and inclusion consultant with Cultured Enuf, where she conducts training for organizations on corporate culture strategies that reinforce psychological safety.
We’ll walk through actionable steps you can take as a job description writer to attract potential team members, stand out in the competitive job market, and be mindful of any potential biases and trauma that may be integrated into your current recruitment strategy. No matter the size of your company or the role you hold, we all can benefit from understanding how to strengthen recruitment with a DEI lens.
