Pittsburgh’s Department of Innovation and Performance is hiring a senior project coordinator
The City of Pittsburgh is hiring a new senior project coordinator for its Department of Innovation and Performance, the office behind most of local gov’s interactions with the local tech and entrepreneurship communities through programs such as PGH Lab and data sharing initiatives such as Dashburgh. Recent projects from the department have also included OneStopPGH, an online destination for business permits, licenses and other development needs, and Tech Refresh, a program to ensure all city employees have the up-to-date technology they need to work.
Responsibilities for this role will include the creation and management of new projects for the department, support for technical teams involved, and coordination of project testing and validation. According to the job post, those interested in applying should have at least two years of professional experience in project management, engineering, data analytics, systems or business analysis, with at least one of those years being focused on team management. A location was not listed for the job, but I&P operations were remote earlier in 2021.

Looking to get into the cryptocurrency industry? Pittsburgh’s most prominent bitcoin miner, Stronghold Digital Mining, is looking for a CTO. Though the job posting lists the role’s location as New York, the work will largely overlap with the Pittsburgh region where the company recently opened a new power plant and where the company’s cochairman, Bill Spence, resides. The job posting did not specify whether or not the company, like many others right now, is operating remotely.
As CTO for this fast-growing company, which went public in October, the new officer will be responsible for keeping abreast with all of the latest trends in cryptocurrency and data center management trends as well as overseeing the intersections of business strategy and technical needs at the company. Those looking to apply for the role should have over 12 years of experience in managing technical operations, along with two years of working in the cryptocurrency industry.
For anyone whose experience doesn’t yet meet those requirements, Stronghold is also hiring for a data scientist based in Pittsburgh.

One of Innovation Works‘ trio of accelerators is in search of a new program manager. This leader for AlphaLab Gear — the organization’s hardware-focused accelerator — will be responsible for shaping the content of the program as well as have a hand in application selections. The job posting for the role also emphasized that this program manager should be vocal in the Pittsburgh tech and startup communities, ensuring that startups within the program have the chance to benefit from the wealth of local resources.
Those interested in applying for the role should bring five to 10 years of experience in the hardware or startup world, along with a comfortability with being vocal in the Pittsburgh startup community. The role will likely be a mix of in-person and remote work, as Innovation Works took its accelerators virtual this year. However, the nature of hardware innovation requires some in-person work at the accelerator’s tool shop and other prototyping and iteration spaces.
