On the Market is a new column where we highlight noteworthy job openings and the people who are lookin’. Got a submission? Email us and tell us why you belong in the roundup.

We’re watching the Monetate diaspora with great interest.

One of the largest, most mature venture-backed tech companies in the region, Monetate is spinning off lots of engineering talent, especially as the company navigates what it’s becoming next.
A few ex-Monetate engineering leads are running tech at super-early-stage startups. Seems like a killer opportunity to get experience building a product from scratch, but also to learn from people who have done that kind of stuff at a local giant like Monetate.
Check out:

  • Blackfynn, an Old City startup focused on how scientific researchers manage their data. Monetate’s former Senior VP for Delivery and Engineering, Tom Janofsky is CTO. Blackfynn is looking for a senior software engineer and senior UI engineer. Equity is part of the deal, Janofsky said.
  • Brief Technology, a Doylestown startup that’s building software around veterinary publishing. Two former Monetate engineering directors are running the tech team: Elise Wei is the lead front-end engineer and Tom Chandler is lead back-end engineer. They’re hiring for both back-end and front-end and listings will eventually be here, but if you’re interested, email Wei at elise@brieftechnology.com. Wei couldn’t offer specifics about equity or other profit-sharing benefits.

And on that note, ex-Monetate director of engineering Luke Walker recently left Center City fintech startup PerPay and is on the search for his next move. He said he’s talking to OneTwoSee, Ticketleap and Think Brownstone.
Speaking of Think Browstone, the design agency is hiring a VP of Client Engagement. The company, with offices in Conshohocken and Center City (you could work from either), has a more buttoned-up, mature feel (peep their recent design leadership summit at the Union League) with a client roster to match. That’s due in part to the company’s corporate roots — their founders came from the consulting world.

If the early-stage startup thing is your game, also check out SocialLadder, which recently raised $550,000 from Ben Franklin Technology Partners and angel investors including Pet360 founder Brock Weatherup and Owen Van Natta, former COO of Facebook. Based at the Philly newspapers’ Project Liberty incubator at 8th and Market, the brand ambassador platform is hiring a sales director (a position where you’d get equity) and entry-level mobile marketers. Email cofounder Alana Bly at alana@rkiapps.com if interested.
If you’re intrigued by React.js and React Native, check out this QA position at ApprenNet. The venture-backed edtech startup is building with the JavaScript framework. ApprenNet also has a team in San Francisco, where its CTO Nestor Toro is based. The ApprenNet crew recently moved to Center City shared-office space Industrious.

OK, here’s something we didn’t know: New York-based online advertising giant AppNexus has a 32-person office in Conshohocken.
They’re hiring a senior software engineer. They opened the office after acquiring Horsham-based OpenAdStream last year. The office is sales, engineering and technical support on the company’s Publisher Technology Group. The company’s VP of Engineering, Minki Jeong, is based out of that office, and so is Terri Paone, senior director of publishers services and tech support.
Lastly, eMoney Advisor is moving in to an enormous new office in Radnor — we’ll have photos for you Wednesday — and is staffing up to fill the space. (How enormous is enormous? 77,000 square feet. That’s nearly three Impact Hubs.) The fintech company got acquired by Fidelity in early 2015 and hit the 300-employee mark this summer. Nice to see they’re expanding in the region. Here are the job listings. Reach out to Mark Constan, VP of Recruiting, if you have any questions, at markc@emoneyadvisor.com. You can also peep the PhillyDev Slack in the “jobs” channel to reach out to an eMoney Advisor engineer if you want to hear from someone on the tech team.
That’s it for this week, hit us up with job postings on your radar or tell us if you’re on the market. For a job, that is. If you’re single, that’s your own business.
