Think Company is an experience design and software development firm. Employees (internally referred to as “Thinkers”) utilize research to design and build user-centered digital experiences. The company is based in Philadelphia, with remote employees across the US.
Think Company prioritizes hands-on and people-oriented work, which translates to an employee-centered company culture. Thinkers are respected for their individualism and encouraged to be themselves. Leadership is transparent about their efforts to create a workplace that is both supportive and challenging.
The company’s many long-tenured employees speak to its focus on personal development, while maintaining a nimble and dynamic culture that evolves with cultural and industry changes. Each Thinker has an annual personal training budget, along with company-wide manager training and customized growth plans. Think Company provides regular performance reviews that occur more than once a year and provide opportunities for promotion with the quickly-growing company.
A dedicated DEI committee meets regularly to identify diversity, equity, and inclusion issues and reports their findings directly to the executive team. Leadership prioritizes implementing solutions to these issues, including salary band transparency to drive pay equity across roles. The company also partners with local philanthropic organizations like HopeWorks and offers each employee paid volunteer hours to give back to their local communities.
Think Company is currently hiring Content strategists, Designers, Project Managers, Researchers, and Technologists. Local employees are welcome to work from the company’s offices in Philadelphia and Conshohocken if and when they wish, but it is not required. All roles are fully remote unless specified in the job description.
"We're exceptionally collaborative at Think Company. It's not an environment where you feel siloed, which says a lot working as a developer during the pandemic. Respect for one another, regardless of background or skill level, is embedded in the culture. This has affected me so positively in that I've grown exponentially as both a consultant and developer since coming onboard."Eliza Cottrell Senior UX Engineer
What is Think’s workplace culture like in general?
Think Company has always been a people-oriented, employee-centered organization. We create a very collaborative culture for both work and socializing. How this looks has evolved considerably with COVID but, after shifting to a remote-first team structure, we’re finding new ways to remain close as teams and colleagues.
Our culture and core values make Think Company a place where people are respected for individualism and encouraged to be themselves. We strive to create an environment that’s both challenging and fun to work at.
This has translated to longer tenures for many Thinkers thanks to the personal and professional growth opportunities combined with a good lifestyle balance.
What opportunities are there for career development and professional advancement at Think?
Career development is a top priority for us. We offer many tools and incentives to promote this including: personal training budgets, educational team activities, and regular Lunch-n-learns.
Our managers across the company undergo training to conduct productive 1-on-1s, develop growth plans for employees, and provide regular performance reviews—which include opportunities for promotion with a quickly growing company.
What social responsibility initiatives is Think involved with?
Think Company has always strived to be a socially responsible company. A Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee was established about three years ago and has focused on making sure that we’re supporting all Thinkers while growing in a way that reflects the community we’re a part of. As part of this effort Think Company has worked to ensure pay equity across roles and transparency in salary bands to our employees. In addition to the volunteer activities that individuals participate in with paid Volunteer Time Off, we partner with HopeWorks and other local non-profits related to or who benefit from the work we do.
