Uber drivers are on strike today to protest working conditions with the company.

The protest, confirmed by local TV news, follows Uber’s decision to lower fares by 15 percent in New York.
The protest, for UberX drivers, seems to be organized by the group United Drivers Network. A post on the group’s New York City Strike Against Uber event reads:
“ATTENTION ALL DRIVERS! COME TO STRIKE UBER ON MONDAY! TOGETHER WE ARE POWERFUL! THEY SLASHED PRICES WHICH MEANS THEY SLASHED YOUR INCOME! YOU ARE IN DEBT NOW WITH YOUR FINANCED CAR, YOU ARE ANGRY AND WE KNOW IT! JOIN US, TURN OFF YOUR PHONE FOR A DAY ON MONDAY AND COME STRIKE WITH US AND LOOK FOR SOLUTION ON THIS MATTER!!!”
Meanwhile: “uberX is now 15% cheaper,” the Uber app says upon opening. “Request a fare estimate before you ride to see these new rates in action.”
Opening the Uber app this morning, there were some cars, but far fewer than usual.
