Towson business incubator TowsonGlobal has recently announced two big initiatives for entrepreneurs in and around the Baltimore area.
The Entrepreneurs Portal
The Entrepreneurs Portal is an online source for information on starting and running a business, and includes resources on pertinent topics including: writing a business plan, funding your business, and pitching to investors. With the Entrepreneurs Portal, all of this information can now be found in one convenient location online, 24/7.
All of the information and resources on the portal have been pulled together from a variety of respected sources, such as the US Small Business Administration (SBA), Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE), Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED), Maryland Technology Development Corportation (TEDCO), US Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), Small Business Resource Center (SBRC), International Trade Administration (ITA)
“Our goal at TowsonGlobal is to make it easier for entrepreneurs in the Greater Baltimore Region to succeed, and we believe the Entrepreneurs Portal will provide valuable resources for many small businesses, spurring creativity, innovation and job creation,” says TowsonGlobal’s director Clay Hickson.
TowsonGlobal is Towson University’s Business Incubator that helps entrepreneurs learn how to compete in the global economy, both at home and abroad. TowsonGlobal provides businesses a wide range of support, including high-quality, affordable office facilities; business counseling; mentoring; networking assistance; workshops and other educational forums. Members also draw from the experience of an active advisory board comprised of executives in technology, financial and legal services, logistics, manufacturing, contracting and venture capital fields.
TowsonGlobal’s Business Plan Competition
Along with their 24/7 portal, TowsonGlobal is also hosting a Business Plan Competition. The grand prize winner will receive a 90-day Resident membership valued at $5,000 (includes office space, mentoring advisory services and more), plus a CASH prize.
Competition entrants must be pre-start up or early stage innovative businesses or entrepreneurs from the Baltimore-Washington, DC, region who have a fairly well developed idea or technology and are interested in receiving support to develop the business. Entrants are required to submit a 3-5 page executive summary by February 7, 2011.
