Check out this technology-based art show opening Friday night

If art is fresh and new, it's probably made with some type of technology. A new show at Sky Gallery opens tomorrow night.

While technology can sometimes seem like an impersonal or faraway thing, it’s just as much a tool made by hand as a shovel or a paintbrush. So say, at least, the creators of the art show opening tomorrow night in Gowanus — Erin Przekop and Tom Critchlow.
The show is called “Technology As Hands,” and features work designed specifically for the show.
Thirty artists, working in a broad range of digital work, robotic work, crafts, photography and more, will show their “exploration of how artists and makers utilize technology in the creation of their work.”
We profiled Przekop and Critchlow in August, when the Fiercely Curious founders were organizing the show.
“We’re trying not to create a stark gallery model, but see the process, smell the paints that are used,” Critchlow said in the interview. “A lot of that is usually taken away when you go to an art show.”

The show runs from Oct. 23-30 at Sky Gallery, located at 460 Union St. The opening reception starts tomorrow at 6 p.m.
