It’s one of the world’s largest arcade games.
Killer Queen Arcade has mostly lived at the NYU Game Center in Downtown Brooklyn. Created by local developers, Joshua DeBonis and Nikita Mikros, this unique collaborative game requires two teams of five to play it. And you can see that when people manage to get that many people into room, it turns into an experience comparable to watching live sports.
You can see some of the excitement the game engenders in spectators in this highlight video from a Killer Queen Arcade tournament:
There’s an extensive piece on the origins of the game and its developers over at Polygon.
From now to March 2nd, you have a chance to play it, at the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens, alongside 24 other indie games, some of which are only viewable to the public in this exhibit.
If you make it over, let us know: were you able to win by snail?
