Digital Art Friday: Eric Teo and Angela Lee, ‘Zombie Storybook’

Randomly organized sentences create a strangely coherent story from a zombie apocalypse survivor.

A "day" generated by Zombie Storybook.

Zombie Storybook is a digital storytelling experiment out of the NYU Game Center’s graduate program. It’s a collaboration between two students, inspired by an analog project by one of the program’s professors, Eric Zimmerman. The work was developed by Eric Teo and the art was contributed by Angela Lee.

Try it out

Here’s the idea: Zombie Storybook has a collection of sentences built into the site’s database. Each time a user refreshes the page, five of those sentences are randomly chosen to make a story, or journal entry, from a zombie apocalypse survivor writing about their day.
