‘Beglitched’ is the latest indie oddity you should check out from NYU Game Center

Brooklyn really has its own games culture, and its capitol is 2 MetroTech Center.

Yet another indie game graduate of the NYU Game Center Incubator has debuted, this one from the 2015 class. It’s called Beglitched, and it’s the work of A.P. Thompson and Jenny Jiao Hsia.
Released Oct. 7, the game is available for PC and Mac and on Steam for $9.99.
According to its creators:

Beglitched is a game about insecurity, in our computers and ourselves. In a pastel world of networks where nobody truly knows what they’re doing, hacking is a magical art and the notorious Glitch Witch is the most premium archmagi of the net. By random circumstance, YOU are her new apprentice. You must use your wits and cunning to unravel the mechanisms of an alien computer and survive amongst a veritable web of clowns, leftclickers, and filedraggers.

The game got a “thumbs up emoji” from Killscreen and was ranked the best student game at the 2016 Game Developer’s Conference by Playboy.
Called “cyberpink” by Killscreen, the game has a particularly cute history, found on A.P. Thompson’s website:

Beglitched began its life as a simple prototype in the form of a game called Deepweb by AP. This game was very green and traditionally cyberpunk and took itself too seriously. Jenny joined the project in Spring 2015 and fixed all that by making everything bouncy, cute, and meaningful.

The game joins several other interesting games to come out of the NYU Game Center Incubator, such as Rewordable, Gemini and Cognition.
