Working on an alternative to factory farming? Or a way to shore up the social safety net?
Those are among the sorts of ideas that Urban-X is looking to fund. The Greenpoint-based accelerator for “smart cities” startups is accepting applications for its third cohort now through May 31. Each participating company will receive $60,000 in funding, plus software, services and mentorship from industry experts. Those experts include staffers from the two companies behind Urban-X, auto manufacturer Mini and venture capital firm SOSV, as well as outside peers.
In need of some inspiration? Urban-X managing director Micah Kotch recently tweeted out a hint about what he’s personally looking for among applicants. He’s also written here at Technical.ly about which urban-focused tech companies he’s keeping an eye on. And we recently got a sneak peek at the companies in the current cohort of Urban-X. Study up!
This is the kind of thinking we're looking for in @urbanxaccel cohort 03. Applications open now! https://t.co/imO6Pf2chg
