The D.C.-based startup that operates pop-up hotels in luxury apartment buildings is launching a new pop-up in Houston in partnership with Camden Property Trust. Camden Downtown, located at 1515 Austin Street, will feature 100 units for WhyHotel guests to use starting later this year. The apartment building has 271 units total and is equipped with amenities like a fitness center, lounge areas and dining spaces. The pop-up hotel is currently slated to run through late 2020.

“Visitors to downtown Houston as well as prospective residents of Camden Downtown will have the opportunity to experience our new luxury community firsthand, and a WhyHotel partnership offers Camden a unique amenity for its residents as well as additional income for the property during its lease-up period,” Laurie Baker, executive VP of operations at Camden Property Trust, said in a statement.

This is the company’s first official location outside of the East Coast region. Launched in 2018, WhyHotel currently has pop-ups in Baltimore, D.C. and Virginia. The startup also recently expanded to the West Coast with a San Francisco office and updates to its leadership team.

“This is the perfect location for a WhyHotel pop-up hotel and the Camden Downtown development should benefit from WhyHotel’s ability to attract guests that will activate the surrounding dining, entertainment, and retail spaces,” WhyHotel Cofounder and CEO Jason Fudin said in a press release.
