Renovations are underway to turn a former Mt. Washington church into the headquarters of Warschawski, a Baltimore-based advertising, marketing and digital agency, according to a news release.
The 22-year-old agency purchased the former St. John’s Episcopal Church at 1700 South Rd., which is located near its current headquarters. CEO David Warschawski is leading ideation and design for the renovation, which will result in about 20,000 sq. ft. of office space, according to the company. The architect on the project is SM+P, and J C Porter is the builder.
The renovation is looking to update a building that was originally constructed in 1928. Plans call for adding a second-level mezzanine that will include meeting space, as well as a studio for video and photo shoots, and augmented and virtual reality, according to Warschawski.
“Balancing the dichotomy of renovating the interior while preserving the historical aspects of the church, such as the original oak beams, large archways, brick walls and huge windows that bring in a ton of natural light is an exciting challenge,” Warschawski said in a statement.
The project was reviewed by the city’s Commission on Historical and Architectural Preservation earlier this year, the Baltimore Business Journal reported.
Along with Baltimore, Warschawski has offices in D.C. and New York.
