Want to try out NextFab? Come to its birthday party Oct. 11

NextFab Delaware’s first anniversary party, One Year in the Making, got rained out in September — but the celebration is still on, with the postponed event happening Oct. 11 at 5 p.m.

That means you still have a chance to check out the Wilmington Creative District’s makerspace, which opened in the summer on 2017 and has been used by entrepreneurs and innovators to make everything from prototypes to products to art. It also offers classes in 3D printing, laser engraving, photography, woodworking, electronics and design software.

NextFab is membership-based, with fees ranging from $20 to $300 per month. If it sounds like something you might be interested in, but you’re not ready to commit, you’ll want to check out One Year in The Making. It’s free, with tours of the facilities and folks on hand to answer your questions — and qualified attendees will get a free month to try classes and use the facilities, including NextFab’s South Philly and North Philly locations.

The party itself will be held out on Tatnall Street, block party–style, and will feature live music, food trucks, a beer garden, interactive exhibits and even a “puppy zone” sponsored by the Delaware Humane Association.
