The VSEC, now in its fourth year, challenges students to present business ideas and prototypes to a judges panel of alumni and tech professionals. Founded by two Villanova engineering students, the competition is one of many student entrepreneurship efforts in the region.

Fun Run, an exercise mobile app, won Villanova University’s Student Entrepreneurship Competition (VSEC), held late last month.

The students behind the idea — a social app that motivates users to run by awarding “flags” for certain milestones — won $5,000. At the time of the competition, they were still working on a prototype.
