The team at TRIC Robotics, a University of Delaware-rooted startup that uses robots bathing strawberry crops with UV light as an alternative to pesticide (and winner of the 2020 Swim with the Sharks competition), are category finalists in the THRIVE Global Impact Challenge.
The competition acts as a global search for innovative, sustainable agriculture startups. The TRIC team, which relocated from Delaware to central California in 2022 to continue its research and development in the heart of strawberry country, is competing in the Increasing Food Security category. If it wins the group, it will advance to the finals and pitch at the THRIVE Impact Summit in Santa Clara, California on Nov. 2.
The winner will receive a place on the THRIVE Global Accelerator Program in Silicon Valley and an up-to-$1-million investment from SVG Ventures (the company behind the THRIVE Venture platform), as well as access to the THRIVE-hosted Silicon Valley Startup Bootcamp and the ICL Planet Startup Hub-sponsored Impact Strategy Program.
There is also a people’s choice award — you can check out all of the startups and vote for your favorite by Oct. 26.
