Google released its tenth annual economic impact report, which features The National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) for its use of the media giant’s digital tools.
Washington, D.C.-based NCTE is a nonprofit social equality organization founded in 2003. The nonprofit’s mission is to advocate to change policies and society to increase understanding and acceptance of transgender people. In Google’s 2018 Washington, D.C., Economic Impact Report, the media giant details how detailed how NCTE used digital tools to increase their online presence and reach customers, a press release states.
“Our policy team does a lot of really incredible work,” Jay Wu, NCTE’s director of communications, said in the report. “But it’s hard to get the word out there without the internet. We don’t have a huge ad budget, so whatever we do is purely digital.”
The organization uses Google Ads to reach the transgender community, its allies and the public, the report states. NCTE also uses Google Analytics to track its online activity and G Suite tools like Drive and Docs to share and store data and information internally for its team.
The report also states that D.C. businesses generated $2.9 billion in economic impact from Google search and ad tools. That makes for 4,700 businesses, publishers and nonprofits in the District who grew last year based on their use of Google’s digital tools.
Here are some other stats from the 2018 report:
- Nationally, Google’s search and advertising tools generated $335 billion of economic activity.
- Google provided District-based nonprofits with $24.7 billion in free advertising from the Google Ad Grants program.
- Over 35 percent of clocks for U.S. businesses advertising on Google came from outside the U.S.
