Teen-centered TEDxYouth@UrsulineAcademy returns on March 31

The second annual event, themed "Voices Behind Visions," will feature 22 speakers and a choir.

The teens will take to the TED stage once again.

Last year, Wilmington’s Ursuline Academy held its first TEDxYouth event, “Pioneers & Poets,” featuring student speakers from eight area schools.

On March 31 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the event returns with “Voices Behind Visions,” featuring 22 speakers, including high school students from nine area schools, influencers such as Stephanie Patrone of Clinical Consulting, Tony Hsieh of Constellations Jewelry and jazz musician Jason James Wilson Kageni, as well as the Concord High School Chorale.

“TEDxTalks are all about voicing your vision, and the speakers preparing for this year’s TEDxYouth@UrsulineAcademy have some truly inspired ideas to spread,” said Rhianon Husmann, who was granted the TEDxYouth@UrsulineAcademy license in February 2018 and acts as TEDxWilmington’s lead designer and associate producer.

“This year’s theme, ‘Voices Behind Visions,’ expands on the idea of bringing a vision alive by speaking it into existence,” she said. “Our speakers will be talking about topics such as grief, relationships, academics and music that will challenge our audience to ask questions about what their visions are for a brighter future.”

Tickets are $40, with lunch and refreshments included. Students are $20.
