U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, D-Va., paid a recent visit to a Fairfax, Va.–based digital health company late last week.

The July 20 visit to Vibrent Health by the former vice presidential candidate included a town hall with employees.

As a member of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) committee, Kaine was interested in talking about healthcare needs, and where digital health fits into the conversation about expanding access to care, according to info on the visit provided by the company.

The company, which has 140 employees, developed technology that helps provide insight into preventing and treating diseases, according to its website. One tool collect is designed to collect and bring together health data from various resources for research, therapeutics or precision medicine.

In May, the company said its technology is being used in a new research effort from the National Institutes of Health called “All of Us.” The study aims to gather health data from one million people living in the U.S., with a goal to “oversample communities that have been underrepresented in research.” NIH plans to use the data to help advance personalized medicine.

“Senator Kaine taking time to come to Vibrent to learn about our groundbreaking work in Bio-Health innovation work is a testament to his dedication to helping to advance digital health research,” Vibrent Health Founder and CEO, Praduman “PJ” Jain, said in a statement.
