8 Philly-area companies made this year’s Entrepreneur 360

The list identifies small businesses with “all their parts growing in harmony.” Here's who made the cut.

Entrepreneur rounded up 360 companies across the country making major strides in four areas: impact, innovation, growth and leadership.
“We want to identify 360 small businesses each year that (…) keep all their parts growing in harmony,” Entrepreneur writes. “The result is our Entrepreneur 360 list.”
As we perused the lineup we found eight tech companies from the Philly area that made the list this year. That number feels kinda small, tbh. It may be, as Technical.ly DC reporter Tajha Chappellet-Lanier pointed out, the list’s somewhat faulty methodology:

Foremost of those problems is the fact that any company that appears on the list needed to apply ahead of time to be considered. This makes sense because it would be hard for Entrepreneur to gather a complete list of all small businesses in America, but it also means that companies need to know about the list in order to appear there.

Anyway, here are the Philly-based companies deemed worthy of a shoutout.

No. 12: Petplan

This Newton Square, Pa.-based company offers a digital platform to acquire health insurance for your pets. That’s right, your pets. “We are delighted to have been selected to this list that truly represents the best of the American entrepreneurial spirit,” said Natasha Ashton, cofounder and coCEO of Petplan in a press release.

No. 43: Cosmo DeNicola Companies

If this Fort Washington, Pa., outfit sounds unfamiliar, maybe its portfolio companies, including Futura Mobility and Lumen Optix, are more likely to freshen your memory. The firm also owns Amtech Software and has stake in No. 141 BizEquity.

No. 50: Clutch Holdings

Founded in 2012, this company from Safeguard Scientifics’ portfolio offers a marketing platform to help brands engage with their customers.

No. 107: iQ Media

Last year we told you about that $9 million round this media monitoring company raised. The Conshohocken, Pa.-based firm boasts of helping PR reps at organizations like Temple University, GE, Stubhub and Maserati find out how much media presence they land.

No. 124: StratIS

Led by CEO Felicite Moorman, this Internet of Things (IoT) company based in Center City has been broadening its reach. Over the summer it hit the milestone of 100,000 platforms installed across 45 states, just as Moorman was repping the brand with a keynote presentation at the Smart Cities Innovation Summit in Asia.

No. 141: BizEquity

Fresh off its mention in another fancy list, the Wayne, Pa.-based company offers an online platform for business valuation, and it is doing so with the blessing of investor Pete Musser.

No. 233: Moving Targets

“Measurable direct marketing results for your business” is this company’s tagline. HQ’d in Bucks County, the firm offers marketing staples like email marketing, social media and marketing portfolios.

No. 235: Kavayah Solutions

Capping off the list is Kavayah Solutions, founded in 2002 by enterprise software OG Vivek Casula, the consulting firm handles fun stuff like data management, big data management and analytics.
