Urban Outfitters will implement inventory software from local company PCSTrac in more than 400 stores across the country, PCSTrac announced last month.

The web-based software called StoreTrac lets store managers track and get information about shipments. PCSTrac’s other customers include Bed, Bath and Beyond, the Gap and Under Armour.

The company, a 25-person retail software firm, is based in Nicetown in North Philadelphia. “People need to know that there are professional jobs in North Philly!” wrote CEO Chandra Allred in an email.

Allred, who lives outside the city but is soon moving to Fairmount, joined the company in 2009 and previously did strategy and organizational development consulting for the City of Philadelphia, Independence Blue Cross and Philadelphia Gas Works.

Founded by Marty Becker and Howard Weiss, PCSTrac began as custom software design firm Progressive Computer Services in 1990. It became PCSTrac in 2000, Allred said. Becker is now the company’s CTO.

Full Disclosure: Urban Outfitters is a sponsor and event host for this month's third annual Philly Tech Week, which is organized by Technically Philly.
