The parking garage at Liberty Place just got easier to use.
Parkway Corporation, which owns the Liberty Place garage and about 50 other garages around the city, installed Park Assist, a camera-based parking system that uses LED lights to show drivers where vacant spots are located. The system also includes an app that drivers can use in the garage to locate their car.
It’s the first camera-based parking system in the city, according to the release. Park Assist is used all over the world, including in Australia, Europe and the U.S.
Parkway Corporation is no stranger to the latest technology: in September 2012, it implemented ParkMobile, a mobile payment app that drivers can use in 11 lots around the city.
The company also boasts that:
- 25 percent of its parking garages have free electric vehicle charging stations
- 15 percent of its automated parking facilities use solar-powered parking equipment
- it’s building energy efficient facilities, like the LEED-certified highrise on top of a parking at 8th and Walnut Streets and a hotel at 12th and Arch Streets that will have a partial green roof.
