Philly tech is coming full circle.

Robert Moore first met Mayor Nutter at one of the earliest signature Philly tech events, back in 2011.

Moore had recently moved his business, RJMetrics, into Center City from Camden. He was excited to tell the mayor that he had — count them — four employees. That was four jobs for Philadelphia, a city of 1.5 million that had lost more than 300,000 jobs amid industrial decline. It felt a little silly, Moore remembered, to be so proud of that.

But he was surprised when Nutter mentioned RJMetrics — and their four employees — at his speech during the event.

“He talked about those four jobs like it was 4,000,” Moore said yesterday morning at the ribbon cutting for RJMetrics’ new office, where Nutter was the special guest.

It was a nod to Nutter’s ongoing commitment to small business — particularly scalable tech growth. The mayor has been at ribbon cuttings for all the city’s growing tech companies with new offices, like Artisan, Curalate and Brand.com.

Below, find photos of the new office. It’s still in the works, the RJMetrics staff reminded us, so we’ll be back to show you the finished product in a few months.

This dodecahedron that greets you before you enter the office is from Pottery Barn, said RJMetrics designer Zach Kozac, but the company is commissioning a bigger, wooden version from an artist.
