Makers: Ready to get back to building alongside other creatives?

If you’ve ever considered joining NextFab for access to its high-tech wood shop, 3D printers and laser cutting machines, note these three upcoming opportunities to tour the space, meet members and ask questions.

The Wilmington location, which first opened in the Creative District in 2017, locked down in March 2020 and reopened in June 2020 for members only. The makerspace not only offers access to equipment and space, but also offers classes in CAD, 3D printing, photography, electronics, woodworking and laser cutting to name a few, both in person and online. Now, with COVID-19 restrictions eased, it’s looking for new members.

NextFab has been used by local startups such as Wilmington Green Box to build its outdoor kiosk, Dew Point Brewery to build its custom beer tap handles and Addi Naturals to build its displays, as well as local artists like Dennis Beach and Linda Celestian.

The open house dates for NextFab Wilmington are:

  • Thursday, June 17, from 3 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 15, from 3 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, Aug. 19, from 3 to 7:30 p.m.

The two Philadelphia locations, which offer some additional departments, including metalworking and textiles, will also have open houses throughout the summer. You can register here for any of the open houses at any location.
