This Sunday at NextFab you can learn how to build a WiFi-enabled smart light that reacts to internet data with color-changing LEDs.

For a fee of $250, the attendants of IoT Workshop: From the Wires to the Web will get a half-day intro to the creation of a web app that fits the elusive concept of Internet of Things (IoT).
The workshop, offered in partnership with the New York Code + Design Academy, is taking place at NextFab’s Washington Avenue makerspace from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Although that fee might seem a bit on the steep side, be advised that the cost of the event includes:
- IoT device kit (featuring the very popular Arduino MKR1000 processing board with WiFi capabilities)
- Discounted access to NextFab electronics classes covering micro-controller programming, circuit fundamentals, soldering and more
- Access to the Electro-Makers Meetup
Organizers recommend that attendees have some familiarity with at least one of the following: electronics, programming, coding or web development.
