Newark office of cloud company Hosting specializes in healthcare

By now, you’ve probably saved documents, photos, music and projects to a cloud service. It’s secure, easy to access and it saves memory on your computer or device.
Just as everyday people have a need for cloud storage, so do large corporations, organizations and small businesses.
That’s where Hosting — a cloud hosting and disaster recovery service — comes in. The company, which was founded in 1997, is headquartered in Denver, Colo.
Hosting also operates six data centers, including one in Newark, Del. The others are located in Louisville, Ky., Dallas, Texas, Irvine, Calif., and San Francisco.

About 100 employees work out of the Newark office, which is looking to further expand its cloud hosting reach into the healthcare space.
“We provide businesses a critical application — hosting services for mid-sized enterprises,” said Eric Hutts, vice president of strategic accounts. “A growing story for us is our work in the healthcare space. It’s always been in our DNA since we started. In the past year, we’ve hired several leaders to basically lead our efforts in that space.”
Hutts, a Delaware native who has been with the company for nearly a decade, said Hosting’s main goal is to provide a high-speed, high-service cloud service that is always on and highly available.
“At the heart of it really, we’re looking for ways to help a customer achieve their goals. Ultimately, it comes down to the people — we’re highly trained, committed and have talent,” Hutts said. “We’re all focused on giving great customer experience and service.”
Hosting hosts websites, data and more for various types of clients. Companies with app-heavy websites are often in need of Hosting’s services. The company also provides cloud storage to companies with ecommerce sites; organizations like banks and mortgage lenders than need back-office solutions for loan management; companies with manufacturing applications; and healthcare organizations that need storage for medical billing applications and radiology storage.
Hutts said the company has about 10,000 cloud servers and approximately 5,000 physical servers across its network of six U.S. data centers.
Hosting has been providing cloud storage and solutions since 2007, which, Hutts said, was a response to customers wanting a more flexible way of dealing with application workloads.
Hutts said working in Delaware has had multiple benefits — from being able to draw from a large pool of engineering and computer science students in Delaware, to having members of his staff work on other projects with local startups and organizations.
“Delaware has long been known for tech and engineering talent. We’ve been able to pull from Wilmington University, the University of Delaware, Del Tech and Del State,” Hutts said. “All these schools have top-notch talent. And from Philadelphia and New Jersey, as well, we’ve pulled from Penn and Drexel and they’ve all done really well here.”
